Biography

Cristine Bath is a contemporary ceramic artist whose practice investigates the expressive and sculptural potential of clay through forms inspired by organic and geological structures. Originally trained in painting, drawing and collage, her transition into ceramics emerged from a desire to engage directly with volume, tactility and spatial presence. Following her studies at the European Institute of Ceramic Arts, Bath developed a material practice centred on porcelain and stoneware, exploring the intersections between mineral, vegetal and biological forms. Her works balance fragility with structural complexity, often evoking growth, erosion and transformation within natural environments. Through restrained compositions and refined surface treatment, Bath examines the capacity of ceramics to articulate movement, texture and material sensitivity within contemporary sculptural practice.
