After studying fine arts in Dijon 30 years ago, Jean François Lemaire installed in his workshop the ovens and tools necessary for the work of glass, bronze and ceramics.

Jean François Lemaire is a French artist working across glass, bronze and ceramics. With more than three decades of experience, his practice explores the relationship between material transformation, human emotion, and the dialogue between chaos and harmony. Glass serves as a primary medium through which he investigates movement, texture and perception.

Empreinte De Temps

Print of Time explores the passage of time through glass, resembling fragments of amber that preserve traces of the present. Created as part of the Empreintes de Temps series, each work features contrasting textures and an opaque, mineral-like exterior that conceals a luminous interior, evoking the growth rings of a tree. The series reflects the artist’s belief that time is the essential material of artistic practice, encompassing mastery, creation, and the enduring life of the artwork. Through craftsmanship and innovation, these pieces become poetic records of memory, connecting past, present, and future while celebrating the resilience of material and human expression.

L’écume du Temps

The Foam of Time explores memory as it rises to the surface of the present, transforming the artist’s ongoing investigation of time and material. Building on the Empreintes de Temps series, these large-scale glass works embrace greater architectural presence while allowing the exterior form to engage more freely with the luminous interior. Rather than preserving the purity of original time, the series celebrates its traces, the organic fragments, imperfections, and fleeting remnants that shape human experience. Through this evolution, the works become more accessible and expressive, revealing memory as a living, evolving force that connects material, emotion, and the passage of time.
