Maria Pratas

As a textile artist, Maria Pratas recognised that her degree in visual education, centred on visual content and two-dimensionality, created a need to work in three-dimensional planes.

Topographic Archive of
Arabian Desert

A golden desert with moving shapes, the figure of a traveller in the centre of a region that covers the largest continuous stretch of sand on earth, represented here as rugged and unique in its solar shades that contrast with the deep blue of the Surrounding sea.

Warm tones, gentle curves, irregular textures, and this is the topography that is recorded in the memory of a topographical archive.
It’s the Arabian Desert.
