Noam & Michal
Originating from industrial and graphic design, our work has embraced hands-on craft, specialising in glass and textiles. As keen open-source technology makers and fascinated by craft history, we are looking for ways to draw bridges between traditional craft and digital fabrication. We view our work as part of a chronology of craft knowledge, in which the convergence between historical and contemporary practices evolves into new methods and expressions in material. Our work is focused on crafting tools and processes of making, addressing the cultural origins of materials and techniques, and reflecting a spirit of dialogue and knowledge sharing.
Biography
Noam Dover and Michal Cederbaum collaborate across craft, design and technology, exploring the relationship between traditional making and digital fabrication. Working with glass, ceramics, textiles and paper, their practice investigates material histories, open source knowledge and contemporary production systems, positioning craft as an evolving cultural dialogue.
The Soft Interpretations
The Soft Interpretations series explores the dialogue between material, history, and transformation through experimental glassblowing. Inspired by the evolving forms of Roman amphorae, the works reinterpret ancient vessels as symbols of fragility, change, and the passage of time. Using the innovative hot-mould technique, the artist translates the softness of sewn fabric into rigid glass, creating intricate textures that blur the boundaries between movement and stillness, softness and strength. Balancing technical precision with expressive minimalism, the series reflects on the endurance of craft traditions while embracing imperfection, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between material memory, heritage, and contemporary form.
