Biography
Noura Al Serkal is an Emirati interdisciplinary artist and jeweller whose practice merges cultural heritage, material experimentation and contemporary design. Drawing upon storytelling traditions and sustainable approaches, she creates works that connect craft, identity and place, establishing meaningful dialogue between historical knowledge and contemporary creative expression.
Tansej
“Tansej”, meaning “she weaves” in Arabic, is a limited-edition masterpiece born from the collaboration between Emirati artist Noura Al Serkal and the Moroccan weaving studio Atelier Talasin. This exceptional piece celebrates the timeless traditions of Amazigh (Berber) weaving while embracing contemporary design sensibilities.
Handcrafted in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, “Tansej” is made from Siroua wool, a rare and delicate fiber harvested by local shepherds and dyed using natural pigments derived from mountain plants. Each knot in the piece was meticulously woven by skilled female artisans, whose craftsmanship brings Noura’s artistic vision to life.
